About The Bid Method
Bid Support That Brings Clarity to Complex Opportunities
I'm Heather Warrender, founder of The Bid Method and an APMP-qualified bid professional specialising in construction, facilities management and the wider built environment. I help businesses communicate their value clearly, meet tender requirements, and approach submissions with greater control and confidence.
Background
Sector Experience Behind Every Response
Over more than eight years, I've worked across bid management for construction, facilities management and the wider built environment - supporting major FM organisations and construction contractors on complex submissions across residential, commercial, healthcare and education projects. That experience means I understand the pressures, the terminology and the operational detail behind the work you deliver, not just the words on the page.
My role is to bring structure to the process and translate the expertise already inside your business into a clear, credible response.
Why The Bid Method Exists
Helping Capable Businesses Compete More Confidently
Many smaller construction and FM businesses have exactly the expertise, track record and quality needed to win the work they want - what they often lack is a dedicated bid team, or the time and headspace to manage a tender process confidently alongside live delivery. Opportunities can slip past, or get rushed at the last minute, simply because there isn't the capacity to give them the attention they deserve.
I started The Bid Method to change that. My goal is to make tendering simpler, less stressful and more accessible for SMEs - giving them a direct route to compete for the opportunities they've earned the right to pursue.
How I Work
Persuasive Writing, Grounded in Evidence
My background is in psychology, and it shapes how I structure information and communicate persuasively - but substance always comes first. Every claim I make in a bid is supported by evidence, and every answer is aligned to the scoring criteria it needs to satisfy. Persuasion, for me, is about clarity and structure, not embellishment.
I'm also a trained Mental Health First Aider, which means I understand the pressure that high-value, time-sensitive tenders create for the people involved. I keep the process organised, communicate clearly at every stage, and make responsibilities visible - so tendering doesn't become a source of chaos for you or your team.
What Clients Can Expect
Working Directly With the Person Doing the Work
I'm not a faceless agency or a typical bid-writing team. There's no sales team, no account managers, and no junior writers learning on your bid - just direct access to the person planning, writing and reviewing the work.
- Direct access to the person planning, writing and reviewing the work - no hand-offs, no account-management layer.
- Honest advice about bid readiness, risks and where your effort will have the greatest value.
- A structured process with clear information requests, review points and deadlines throughout.
- Writing that reflects your business, rather than generic language forced into every response.
- Flexible support for a single tender, a busy period, or a longer-term pipeline of opportunities.
Building Long-Term Partnerships
Better Bids Become Easier When the Knowledge Is Retained
I believe in long-term partnerships, not transactional relationships. Working together over time builds a stronger evidence base - approved case studies, reusable policies, verified results and consistent company information - along with clearer win themes that carry from one opportunity to the next. That reduces repeated information-gathering and gives each future response a stronger starting point than the last.
“My aim is not just to help clients win one contract, but to help them build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities and long-term growth.”
